Libraries play a pivotal role in the sustainable development of the country. The aim of the present study was to investigate the quality of educational services provided by Library of medical faculty of Kermanshah according to the Library Standards. In this descriptive cross sectional study, 309 Library members were studied through Libqual questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. The Library could meet the expectations of its members in 67% of cases (positive adequate value). In terms of access to information, the maximum and minimum means were reported for printable or electronic journals (7.62%) and electronic resources and websites (5.55%), respectively. With regard to personal control, the maximum and minimum means belonged to easy access instruments (6.15%) and modern equipment (5.63%), respectively. For location, however, appropriate space acquired the maximum mean (6.59%). Based on the obtained findings, Kermanshah Library of medical faculty (LMF) has not been able to fulfill the maximum expectations of its members.

Environmental factors have a key role in increasing the durability of documented and written heritage. Therefore, in order to create favorable environmental conditions in archives and libraries, it is necessary to determine the goals related to environmental management to meet the preservation needs of these collections; and protective measures (to prevent or slow down the process of deterioration of materials) in these institutions should be planned and implemented. The most important environmental factors affecting the durability of Library and archive collections include temperature, relative humidity, light, airborne particles, chemical gases, and biological factors. Control and regulation of these factors is the most cost-effective way to increase the useful life of collections. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the environmental conditions continuously, by recording and processing the data. In this study, the requirements, optimal scope, and preventive protection measures contained in some Standards and guidelines for the protection and maintenance of archival and Library materials have been investigated. The aim is ensuring the safe preservation of materials and objects sensitive to deterioration. It seems that physical, chemical, and biological mechanisms depend on temperature and humidity which affect the collections in different ways. So, it is impossible to find a safe temperature and humidity range for all collections. Establishing international Standards should be recognized as a long-term strategy that helps to raise the quality of protection processes and improve resource protection knowledge. Based on the studies and experiences gained, the permissible limits can be determined which depend on the material's physical condition, its proper durability over time, and the environmental conditions of storage during the historical period.

Presently, journals are considered as the most important tools of information science and knowledge growth throughout the world. Due to the increase in the number of scientific journals, the selection, evaluation and determination of the authenticity of these resources by the authorized organizations has attached more significance to them. Thus, the present study aims at investigating the compliance of Iranian Library and information science journals with basic Standards of journal evaluation through Thomson Reuters’ viewpoint. This is an applied research, which has been conducted through comparative analysis. It evaluates the authenticity of scientific journals through four basic Standards of Thomson Reuters, namely on-time publishing of journals, observing international publishing laws, fulltext in English, and peer review. The population of the research includes all the active scientific Iranian journals in the field of Library and information sciences (12 journals). Results showed that the mean of correlation ratio between the studied journals and Standards was 75%. On-time publishing and full-text in English were observed only in 33% and 58% of the studied journals respectively. However, observing international laws of publishing and peer review are in optimal status. Studies are needed in order to find out the compliance of the other countries’ Library science journals with international Standards, (specially developing ones) to help those countries to identify the existing gaps which will assist them to present their researches in the international level through being indexed in authentic databases. Obviously more research is needed in this area, as Thomson Reuters has published Standards other than the basic Standards.

Purpose This research aims to study the status of pre-university centers’ libraries in Arak in terms of mission and policy, budget, space and equipment, Library collection, staff, services and activities, promotion of Library services and learning in comparison with the School Library Standards.Methodology: The method used is descriptive survey and for collecting the data the questionnaire was used. It was sent to all 34 pre-university centers and 30 copies were returned. For analyzing the data, SPSS software was utilized.Findings: The findings showed that totally, pre-university centers’ libraries in Arak have observed the School Library Standards in mission and policy 67.66%, budget 66.68%, space and equipment 88.33%, Library collection 50%, staff 91.11%, services and activities 59.99%, promotion of Library services and learning 70%.Conclusion: Emphasizing that status quo of the libraries can be better than current condition, some suggestions for improving the status of these libraries were presented.

Purpose: The present paper tries to study and evaluate the status of Khuzestan public libraries in relation to the existence of a special section for blind and semi-blind users, and the compatibility of the existing situation with Standards for resources, facilities, and labor force. It also aims to examine the expectations of staff. Methodology: The present study is a descriptive survey. The research population consists of three libraries: Saamen al Aemmeh, (Abadan), Shaheed Sharif (Khorramshahr), and Central Library (Ahwaz). Data have been gathered via observations by researchers, via interviews with authorities in Behzisti office in Khuzestan province, and through the employment of a collection of relevant Standards. The Standards being employed are: The National Standards of Library Services for the Blind (Taavoni, 1379), and the Regulation on How to Develop the Blind users’ Section of Public Libraries (General Office of Public Library Services, Iran Public Libraries Foundation, 1389). The first standard introduces the services required for blind and semi-blind users in libraries, and the second standard is a guideline to develop and expand a special section for these people in public libraries, with an emphasis on Iran Public Libraries Foundation’s policy. Findings: Results demonstrate that environment currently available in the special section for the blind and semi-blind in the libraries studied is not suitable, and that these libraries are incompatible with some of the Standards. Originality/value: To the best of our knowledge, no research work has been carried out to compare the special section for the blind and semi-blind users in Khuzestan public libraries with regard to Standards and guidelines.

Aim: This paper aims at evaluation of libraries of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz based on the "Standards of Iranian University Libraries" (SIUL) to clarify the current status of the resources of those libraries based on the abovementioned Standards in a fifteen-year time period. Methodology: A checklist was used for evaluation of resources of university libraries, which was prepared based on SIUL. Data collection of libraries' resources was accomplished using the AZARSA integrated web-based Library software tailored for the Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz libraries. Additional tools and techniques used for data collection were interviews with librarians, statistics related to inventory of the libraries under investigation, statistics related to the number of faculty members and students in 2018. Findings: The results of study indicate that the average conformity percentage of all libraries of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz with SIUL in 2018 has reached 17% demonstrating 2% increase compared to 2004. Results: This could promise an ascending growth trend of resources in the target libraries; however, it should be noted that there is still a big gap to reach the standard level.

Purpose: This paper reports a research that has examined the extent that transliteration of Persian proper names at the National Library of Iran (NLI) complies with the national and international Standards. Method: Data was collected from NLI Authority database and compared with existing Standards. show highest level of ” ظ“ and ” ص“ Findings: On the average, the letters shows the least. ” ع“ compliance with the Standards, whereas the letter The corporate body and geographic authority files were found to be more in compliance than the Personal names one. Also, short vowels were more in line with the Standards than the long vowels. Conclusion: Unavailability of a manual that helps transliteration is a shortcoming. As a result, catalogers have generally relied on their variant personal experience and/or trusted forms proposed by unauthorized sources such translators, authors, or publishers.

Introduction: In providing evidence-based services, as well as easy access to the needed information, hospital libraries hold a significant position in serving various users, including healthcare practitioners, patients, and their family caregivers. This study aims to assess the hospital libraries affiliated with the Ministry of Health and Medical Education (MOHME) in Iran, based on the national standard approved by the National Standard Organization in 2021. Methods: This study is an applied research with a descriptive survey methodology. The statistical population comprises 213 hospital libraries from 60 universities of medical sciences affiliated with the MOHME of Iran. Data was collected using a researcher-developed checklist derived from the national standard book of hospital libraries. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software. Results: The current research results indicate that most hospital libraries in medical universities across Iran meet the Resources Management. Conversely, the majority of hospital libraries do not meet Service Management Standards. Specifically, more than half of these libraries comply with the requirements for Information Resources Management and Information Technology Resources Management, and less than half of the libraries Services Management Standards. Conclusion: MOHME-affiliated hospital libraries have fundamental weaknesses in the critical components of Service Management Standards and have strength in Resources Management Standards, i.e., Information Resources Management and most Information Technology Resource Management Standards. In order to ensure the well-being of patients, their families, and users, it is imperative that officials and stakeholders take concrete steps to enhance services, improve the quality of patient care, and ultimately boost overall users’ satisfaction levels.
